Posted 24/08/2007 09:51:40 AM | | Like many of you we have all tried our best to help the victims of the terrible disaster that has happened in the south of Peru. I know that many expats have gone down to the zones to help personally & we all owe a dept of gratitude for their humanitarian efforts. Seeing the TV pictures of the dead, the injured & homeless causes us all to reflect the nature of such a disaster & how fragile life is.
Over the next weeks & months aid work will need to be done to make sure that the victims are well looked after & nourished. We can all do our bit to help maintain that flow of aid & not let it drift away in time.
In light of what happened this week the planned St. George’s Mid-Winter Party on the 31st August has been changed to help the victims of the Earthquake. Instead of the 20 Soles entrance fee I ask you to purchase any food or water & bring it to our house on the evening of the 31st. We will then take the collection & give it to the authorities to distribute.
We can all do our bit to help but we can always do more. Let us see if the friends of St. George’s can all help that extra little bit so that we can assist the people of south Peru in their time of need.
